Workers Compensation

Workers' Compensation Attorneys in Northwest Florida

At Varner, Nix & Kirkland, P.A., with offices in Milton, Florida, we are adept at helping private employees, federal workers and military personnel with the complex process of applying for workers' compensation and Social Security Disability benefits (SSD). These federally mandated programs provide a form of financial insurance for workers who are injured and cannot work, either temporarily or permanently. Please contact us for an appointment with a lawyer if you need to apply for workers' compensation or SSD of if you are having trouble with your benefits.

Workers' Compensation: Claims, Denials, Appeals and Extension of Benefits

At Varner, Nix & Kirkland, P.A., our workers' compensation clients come to us for many reasons:

  • They have been denied access to a doctor
  • Their doctor says they are fit to return to work
  • Their workers' compensation check stops coming
  • Their original petition for workers' compensation benefits was denied and they want to appeal the decision
  • They want to be represented by an attorney at the final hearing to determine benefits

In many of these situations, our experienced workers' compensation attorneys can provide immediate assistance to get access to medical care or the benefits you need while you are off the job because of a work-related injury. Often, we can help our clients find a suitable doctor and then - with that doctor's report - negotiate with the workers' compensation insurance company to continue your benefits.

Did You Know?

We also are qualified to handle federal and military employees' workers' compensation claims under the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act.

Social Security Disability Benefits

If you have received a denial letter from the U.S. Social Security Administration after you applied for Social Security Disability benefits, you may want to appeal. You should be aware that, in most cases, you must appeal the decision within 65 days of the date of the letter notifying you that your claim was denied. At Varner, Nix & Kirkland, P.A., we provide competent, professional assistance with all aspects of the SSD application process.

Your denial letter from the Social Security Administration may be called "Notice of Disapproved Claim," "Notice of Reconsideration" or "Notice of Federal Reviewing Official Decision."

Our attorneys can help you appeal your denial or partial or total disability benefits. We can request a rehearing, request reconsideration, submit another application with supplemental medical records, and even appeal the denial before an administrative law judge. Keep in mind, though, that the process is not a speedy one: Some SSD applicants wait as long as two years before their application is finally approved.

We Welcome Your Inquiries
